Do I have to register my hands as a leathal wepon when I become a black belt?No, that is an urban myth. Karate is not required to register their hands.

Do I have to be in good shape before I start?No, you will get into shape as you progress through the training system. We have a series of exercises to strenghten the body, mind! which will also make you flexible.

I am 30 years old, am I too old to start martial arts?"No, you are not too old to begin katate training. People have been known to start at the age 80.

What is the difference between Tae Kwon Do and Karate?Tae Kwon Do is a Korean Martial Art that focuses primarily on kicking techniques. Some Tae Kwon Do schools also teach Olympic style fighting. Karate is an all round practical self defense system which trains the student for self defense encounters. Karate students are taught to use their hands and feet with multiple strikes to subdue their attacker.

I am very busy with my work schedule, how much time do I need to devote to Karate classes?"The two 1 hour classes a week, are recommended, as is practicing at home.

How long does it take to get a black belt?In Shotokan Karate, it takes approximately 3 years for a student to reach black belt. providing you train diligently and pass every grading examination.

What sort of things should I consider when choosing a school?Make a list of karate schools you are interested in, start by visiting the schools and speak to the instructor.
